haha let me crap up some stuff for my blog post todae. And um b4 that, I realised 2 things yesterday. First: I seem to wake up at 3am sharp every night to go to the toilet. Second: I finally proved to myself that music is played continually on the radio stations every night without the DJs, cos i woke up at 3am last night, so I tried to do something different instead of staring out at the empty and silent street, so I took my mp3 and tuned to 93.3fm, listened to a nice jay chou song and ya, went to sleep after that. Now... for the actual blog post. Because we had RA lesson for bio today (and um, RA is raffles academy, not the ones you see in movies) and we were discussing mutations and a little of diseases, I suddenly had the urge to type out some of the ways the world would end, or haha actually, don't you find it quite egoistic when we say that the world ends, it actually means the moment we humans get wiped out? I mean, there are still so many lifeforms out there that might survive, so stop being so selfish and think that you are the only living creatures on earth fellow homo sapiens!!
1) Viral/Disease wipe-out?
Hmm is it possible that we can be wiped out by a disease or virus so powerful we can't find a cure for it? Well for me i think this may be possible... Why? Look at our friends in the forests. What happens to them when they catch a viral infection or disease? Ah. They die. They die because they cannot cure the disease and are helpless against it. THAT is the way things should be working on earth. But what are we doing? We have medical facilities, biological research down all the way to the molecular level, gene mapping, cloning and other advanced technology. When we catch the SARS virus, we try so desperately to save our fellow human being and succeed. When the avian flu comes around (and still is around), we find possible cures to it and save more lives. But is this the way Nature should be? Of course, the very first question is: what is Nature? Do we know what we mean when we always say nature's call (haha ace ventura) or like: "mm. let nature take its course." ? For me, I do not know the exact definition of Nature, and i am too sian to go find it up now, but to me, it means the way that the biological life, meteorological, physical, geological and chemical processes on earth have been working since its beginning. We should not interfere with how it happens, but instead, let it happen. Ya, just let it happen.
Hey, but then again, how sure are we that if we let it happen, there won't be a prophesied end to our world? Haha i shall not talk about that. Back to the virus. I know it sounds really really bad to say if someone is dying, just let him die. However, i really feel that was the original way it should have been (no. i am not evil). We have created so many problems for ourselves: overpopulation gives rise to stuff like lack of jobs, um the mutation of diseases such that they become more powerful to challenge the scientists working in their labs and imagine what will happen if one day the oil rigs say: "oi. we have dug up all the oil. and where's our alternative fuel source?" There. Why? Because there are too many people!! Why are there too many of us? Because we made it so. Why did we make it so? Because we are social creatures and don't want people to die. In other words, it's like playing a really complicated game with Nature and typing in a cheat code for mass spawning. Okay. I think you should have gotten the idea by now anyway. So i shall stop. Dinner time. bye! [:
